We had a great week at Costa de Cocos in Xcalak at the end of March. This part of the Yucatan remains one of my favorite places on the planet. Great lodge, guides, food and value.
This year fishing was tougher than on previous trips. Our group did see lots of nice sized schools of bones but overall found that fish were pretty spooky because of unusually high wind conditions
.
That said everyone did catch bonefish that were consistently larger fish than in previous years. We also caught a couple small permit and some nice baby tarpon in the backcountry. Throughout the week everyone had shots at some very nice permit, maybe next year.
Frank with his 42" cuda caught trolling a fly in the canals leading into the back country.
