Really enjoyed teaching a two handed class this weekend with Craig Buckbee at River Bay Outfitters in Long Island. I hope we do another class with these guys soon. They were terrific.

It has been a great fall for two handed fishing along the beach in CT. I been mostly using a 13' 7 wt or 14' 9wt Sage or Echo with a skagit line and a T8 or 11 tip.

I still have for spaces available for my hosted trip to Estancia Las Buitreras  from January 21-28th. This is an amazing place with terrific fishing for sea run browns, great guides, gourmet meals and wonderful wines.

Check out the hosted trip like at www.solidadventures.com or email me a jbilotta@georgetownflyfishing.com

We had a good turnout for my fly casting demo Saturday morning at Captain Morgan's Bait and Tackle in Madison. It was nice to see three of the guys break out beautiful bamboo rods that belonged to their father or grandfather.

Thanks Capi for having me over and I look forward to doing another session in the future.

Way behind on posts, but here are some photos from India. We had an absolutely outstanding trip our with Himanlayan Outback.

Fishing for golden masheer is challenging but very rewarding. I fished the whole week with 7126 Method and a 626 grain skagit line and a 12' T11 tip. We fished mostly tube flies.

If you are interested in fly fishing India, get in touch with Misty Dhillon, he and his team do a terrific job. I hope to head back next year.

Costa de Cocos 2016

We had a great week at Costa de Cocos in Xcalak at the end of March. This part of the Yucatan remains one of my favorite places on the planet. Great lodge, guides, food and value.

This year fishing was tougher than on previous trips. Our group did see lots of nice sized schools of bones but overall found that fish were pretty spooky because of unusually high wind conditions

.

That said everyone did catch bonefish that were consistently larger fish than in previous years. We also caught a couple small permit and some nice baby tarpon in the backcountry. Throughout the week everyone had shots at some very nice permit, maybe next year.

Frank with his 42" cuda caught trolling a fly in the canals leading into the back country.

Getting ready to host another terrific group to Costa de Cocos.

Just getting caught up after a great trip to Argentina. I hosted a group of seven friends to Estancia Las Buitreras for a wonderful week of fishing for big sea run browns.

Everyone caught fish between 10-17 pounds, as well as smaller browns between16-22". We fished two handed 7-8 wt rods about 13'.
Most of the time folks were using scanned heads, intermediate leaders and a collection of streamers with rubber legs or large copper johns.

There are a lot of very nice lodge operations out there, but Estancia Las Buitreras is by far one of the best I have worked with. The guides, lodge staff, food and wine were all outstanding.

I will be taking a group back next January,  please let me know if you are interested in joining us.
